District CSEs may choose from among three options for annual review
meetings. If a district chooses Option I for Annual IEP meetings
(meetings held at the McKownville Methodist Church), the teacher
will be asked to attend. The teacher will also be asked to
attend if the district chooses to hold the meetings at the
school site of the classroom (Option III). The teacher will be
asked to be available via telephone for their input if the
district chooses Option II (Teleconferencing). The following are
some guidelines concerning your input. Although these guidelines
can in no way represent the entire spectrum of interactions an
annual review meeting may suppose, it sets a framework from
which to proceed. If you have any concerns about the IEP
meeting, you should discuss it ahead of time with your
principal.
·
Be prepared to discuss the individual student’s strengths, needs and
progress in your program. Also be prepared to verbally
substantiate any recommendations made for student programming.
Bring a copy of the draft IEP to the meeting. A team meeting
prior to the IEP meeting may be necessary to consult with team
members in order to be prepared to accurately represent the
service recommendations.
·
The BOCES staff member’s role at this meeting is to provide
information regarding the student. This information will
substantiate the services, structure, and programming we believe
will best serve the youngster. The District CSE role is to take
this information and consider it with other input to determine
the placement and related services for the following year.
·
When requesting OT/PT services, a prescription is required before
services may begin. When requesting VI/O&M and Rehab evaluation
and/or services, an eye report from an Ophthalmologist is
required before services can begin. Speech services for Medicaid
requires a script.
·
During the meeting, make notes on your draft IEP of changes. You
will need to make the change back in IEP Direct for those
districts who do not use IEP Direct (non-participating
districts). For the IEP Direct participating districts
(shared), the CSE chairperson is responsible to make the edits
and finalize the document. |
