MEMORANDUM TO: Special Education Teachers and Support Staff FROM: Inge Jacobs, Director DATE: August 2007 RE: “OPENING DAY”I’d like to welcome all of you back to another school year in the Special Education Division. I hope that you enjoyed the summer vacation and that you are excited about another year of working with students and their families. As we started last year, this year we will continue sending you the Opening Day Packets on-line. They will be available to you as of Monday, August 27th. Please take the time to read through all materials as there is a great deal of relevant and important information for you there. The Board Policy manual is now available on the Capital Region BOCES website, address http://capregboces.org/, on the left-hand side under “Board Policies.” Please know that you are responsible for reading and adhering to all of these policies. Directions for accessing your Opening Day Packet are as follows:
Please note that the SAVE regulations require that all teachers review their school’s safety plan with students at the start of the school year, and that parents should receive a copy of this as well. For those of you located at host districts, these plans can be obtained from the host building administrator. For those of you located at Maywood or the Maritime Center, the BOCES plans should be followed. This can be obtained from your Regional Principal. For those of you who have ordered materials and supplies for the 2007-08 school year, please stop by Maywood on opening day to pick up anything that may have already arrived. Materials are arranged in the cafeteria and have been sorted alphabetically by name. Opening Day is set for Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at The Desmond in Albany. You will receive a formal invitation under separate cover. I look forward to seeing you all there and to beginning another school year with you. I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer!
